I have finally settled on building the mikesboat, and will sail it extensively as a solo expedition boat on Pamlico sound and the Chesapeake.I was taken with its design from an article about the first OBX 130.After seeing capsize test of Scout on youtube I was sold!I have wanted to see how see sailed as well and the builder of scout has posted some great video.
Hello Bud. I hope you are happy with your Mikesboat choice, I sure am with mine. Other than her quirky looks she does everything expected of her. I really appreciate the big open cockpit with no centerboard trunk to get in the way and learning to sail a balanced lug was not too much of problem. I sailed DESDEMONA solo on the ’14 Texas 200 had no problems with the boat. She has been to Puget Sound on the Left coast but most sailing is done on a big western Montana lake. My old 2hp Evinrude pushes her along just fine when needed.I’m happy to talk boat via email if you wish.
