NOTE: This event is open to all home-built boats of every size and description. Lake Pepin is a very wide spot
in the Mississippi river that offers beautiful scenery and adventurous sailing. I went to the gaffer gathering
there last year and it is well worth the trip and somewhat expensive camping. Hok-Si-La is the best run campground
I've ever been to, and the scenery is well worth the drive. If you buy firewood, they even deliver it to your campsite.
About the only downside I can see is that light sleepers might be bothered by the frequent freight trains running
down both sides of the river all night.
