Sidewinder
This is a follow up to my first article of sidewinder. I described how what and where in the previous article. Took about a year I think. An hour here, a couple of hours there. I was not in a rush and only worked on it when I felt like it. The canoe is built from scratch - no plans. No paint just epoxy and varnish and wood: Luan, Birch, Mahogany, and Teak. Glue: epoxy and fiber glass cloth. I used plyboats software to help me with the line, shape ,and displacement. I have a third 20 or 24 footer quicksilver, haven't decided on the length just yet. I plan on starting after Christmas. The 20+ ' will carry more crew have more power and better sea keeping ability. Allowing me to keep the narrowest V hull possible with a modest 10 to 12'' draft. My design goal is keeping with traditional theory and build with modern easy to find material. To be easy to build, sail, rig, and transport and most of all to just having fun on the water.
