Part One - Part Two - Part Three - Part Four

11/24/15

My Moby Dink is basically finished. I need one more window of weather to do the final epoxy work, mostly small booboos and dings. This weekend looks good. I have done all the machine sanding I can do and am down to hand sanding.

I hope to get to painting next week.

Oar locks are mounted. I made them out of oak left over from the skeg. There will be aluminum plates added. The oars shown are from my inflatable and will not be used with Moby.

The first coat of primer is on the inside.

I had hoped to start the color painting today but with last night's rain and humidity, the primer did not cure enough to start this morning. I placed the tent back over the boat and put a heater under it. Hopefully, I may be able to paint this afternoon. It took almost the whole gallon of primer for this little boat. The wood was thirsty. Here is a shot with the final primer.

A brief window between wind and rain squalls allowed a splash of color. I applied coat number 1 of 2. More colors to come.
